DIRECTIONS: Design a movie poster for the film using Adobe Photoshop and images from online sources. Image size should be 8”x10”, color or black and white. When you’re finished I will print your poster (so that I can write comments on it). We will look at all the posters in class when complete.
🤔PRO TIPS: You’re most likely going to use images that you want to remove the backgrounds from. This is complicated with black and white images, but can be done using your selection tools: Lasso Tool, Quick Selection Tool, Magic Wand Tool and your geometric shaped Marquee Tools. I will demo this in class.
You may also want to try the Background Eraser Tool. Here is a simple tutorial:
I’ve also created a PDF file that will help you make a digital collage. You can download it here: Getting Started. This will help you set up your canvas. Do this first and follow the directions.
Take a look at various movie posters and learn from them. What makes them appealing? Who is the target audience? What kind of text did they use in combination with images? Is the poster simple or complicated? What color palette was used?
